Bonzi Buddy would be found to have been stealing users’ information, as stated. In many instances, this would include the information of children. This would violate the Children’s Online Privacy Act in 2004, and the creators behind Bonzi Buddy would pay 75 thousand USD in fines, which today would be around 130 thousand USD. Besides this, it would be involved in a lesser lawsuit in 2003 in which its advertisements were rightfully accused of being misleading.
